OUR STORY
Orri puts it perfectly into words himself:

“I have always been drawn to the mountains and the rawness of Icelandic nature; it just feels like they’re calling my name! I feel very fortunate to have had the privilege of growing up in Iceland, where you have all this untouched and amazing wilderness right at your doorstep. I’m extremely grateful for being able to share my passion with people visiting us up here in the north and to be able to relive, through my fellow travelers, the amazing feeling of exploring these spectacular landscapes for the first time!”
Kría Adventures was founded by Orri Sigurjónsson, a guide who has an extensive experience in the travel industry and has worked for over a decade as a freelance guide in various countries such as Iceland, Greenland, Norway and the Alps.
Orri is a born and raised Icelander who grew up in the countryside and therefore has always had strong ties to the Icelandic nature. After joining the Icelandic search and rescue teams, at 16, there was no turning back for him in dedicating his career to the outdoors and his love for the mountains and nature only grew stronger. Since then, he has had a very successful guiding career, he has guided for some of the best and most respected travel companies in the world, where he has gathered an immense experience in leading tours and taking people through some of the most amazing places this world has to offer, all with a big smile on his face.
WHAT DOES "KRÍA" MEAN?
The name "Kría Adventures" pays tribute to the Arctic tern (known as "kría" in Icelandic), which embarks on the longest migration in the animal kingdom. These remarkable birds spend their summers in the Arctic and then migrate all the way to the Antarctic coast for a Southern Hemisphere summer. Naming our travel company after the Arctic tern felt fitting, given its status as the ultimate world traveler.
